Our Mission
At Lifesaving Diagnostic Imaging (LDI), our mission is to raise funds for CT scanners, training for competent use and to fund maintenance for the equipment in hospitals that lack access to radiological medical equipment in Haiti. The goal is to increase the radiological standard of care in Haitian hospitals.
Our Story
Lifesaving Diagnostic Imaging (LDI) is the result of a tragic story, but it is also the culmination of mine and my family’s determination to ignite change. I am launching this nonprofit at the age of 17, on the 10-year anniversary of my mother’s passing. My mother passed away in Haiti due to inadequate healthcare within a private hospital; specifically, she sustained internal injuries that could’ve been detected by a CT scan, or diagnostic imaging similar to it. Unfortunately, her story is not the only of its kind, and occurs all too frequently. I am committed to shifting healthcare standards within Haiti, particularly in radiology, in order to ensure a future where someone like my mother could’ve been saved. LDI aims to curtail such disparities by providing the resources and support necessary to increase radiological standards of care within hospitals. Through LDI, I hope to increase the accessibility of lifesaving technology. Ultimately, Lifesaving Diagnostic Imaging (LDI) is an organization that intends to prevent my story, the story of Toni, my mother, from becoming someone else’s.
Our Programs
We offer 3 programs
1. Purchasing refurbished CT Scanners and delivering them to medical facilities in Haiti that do not have them.
2. A scholarship program that funds training for medical professionals to operate CT Scanners
3. Raise funds for maintenance of the radiological equipment
